My Story

Early Beginnings

In my youth I was always curious about technology. From fixing Playstation Consoles to tearing apart my mother Gateway 2000 (she was not happy) I have just always found technology cool. I always found the tech guy in movies to be the coolest in the room. If it had a keyboard and/or display I wanted to know how it worked and what I could have it do.

Experience and Education

Apart from my enthusiasm and hobby activities I have been working in technology in multiple roles since the start of my professional career in 2006. From my time in the Navy working on the AEGIS Weapons System to getting my formal education in Information Technology & Cybersecurity. I hold my Bachelors in IT/Network Engineering and my Masters in Cybersecurity.

I started my IT career with a focus in Network Engineering extending my studies to the real world. My roles have included being an individual contributor to the enterprise architect with hands on experience across every area of Network Engineering Data Center, Wireless, Application Load Balancing, Security, VOIP, Cloud, and Automation. I’ve worked in everything from Fortune 100 companies to small consulting firms all while maintain a secondary role as an Adjunct Professor in the Information Technology Department at local colleges.

My drive to continue becoming the master in my field I eventually ended up being the first member on a newly formed cloud consulting team as the network resources. During this time I would migrate companies to the cloud, perform security assessments, and health checks.

My extensive experience in Networking is focused on Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Aruba, F5, A10, InfoBlox, Netbrain, Nautobot, SolarWinds, and modern AI Observability. I have experience across the top three industry cloud providers Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). I have held or currently hold the following industry certifications:

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional Enterprise, Advanced Routing and Services
  • Fortinet Network Security Expert Levels 4,5, and 7 across FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, and Public Cloud Automation
  • Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer and Systems Engineer
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator, Virtual Desktop, Network Engineer, and Solutions Architect
  • Master Training Specialist in Adult Learning Theory
